Good News of the Week
by Veronica JoceA 7-year-old-boy makes his life all about positive energy and creates care packages for the elderly
After facing bullying at school, rather than internalizing the pain, the spirited 7-year-old Cavanaugh Bell from Maryland decided to channel his energy into something positive instead.
Initially funded by his own savings of $600, Cavanaugh started out by assembling and distributing care packages filled with food and toiletries for his elderly neighbors. Over time, the popular project snowballed. With contributions pouring in, Bell and his mother Llacey Simons launched a food pantry, staged in space donated by a local warehouse.
“After I was bullied and I felt a darkness inside of me, I knew I didn't want other kids to feel the same way I felt,” he wrote on his GoFundMe page. “So, I asked my mom if she could help me spread love and positivity. And, the more I gave back to my community, the more I wanted to keep doing it.”

Scientists in the US created a new paint to reduce emissions
Inspired by Greece’s iconic whitewashed buildings, that keep houses cool by reflecting the sunlight, scientists in the US have developed an even whiter paint, which, according to a recent study, reflects 95.5% of sunlight and can reduce temperatures inside a building by 1.7 Celsius degree.
Xiulin Ruan, one of the study’s authors, said the paint has a significant amount of cooling power that can offset the majority of the air conditioning needs for typical buildings. This way, the new paint has the potential to meaningfully cut the carbon footprint of a building.
