The path of entrepreneurship can be a transformative journey of self-discovery, filled with challenges and triumphs.

In the first episode of The Intelligent Change Podcast, Chloe Macintosh—an architect, turned tech entrepreneur, then turned sex educator—talks about her career journey, the power of embodiment and how rediscovering her pleasure in her 40s changed her experience of life as a whole and inspired her to found Kama, a science based sexual wellness app on a mission to transform how you experience pleasure and its role in your mental, physical, and relational well-being.

Here are the top five inspiring lessons that you can learn from this episode.

Lesson 1
Recognizing the mission beyond yourself

When speaking about deciding to build Kama, Chloe Macintosh emphasises that true success lies in realising that the mission is not solely individual but rather a collective endeavour. By being in tune with yourself and the world around you, you have the power to align your personal goals with a shared mission, and contribute to a greater purpose.

The mission was make sexual education available and a big part of everyone’s life, so that we everyone can fully appreciate its benefits. That is a completely different endeavour than simply wanting to build a successful business.

Lesson 2
Embracing authenticity and staying true to yourself

For a creative entrepreneur or successful leader in any industry, balancing your passion with the demands of a senior role can be challenging. In these moments, it’s important to stay true to yourself and find ways to nurture your creativity. Recognising and embracing your authentic self can lead to personal fulfilment and enhanced professional performance.

Lesson 3
Embracing mindful energy distribution

There is intelligence in every inch of your body, way beyond the confines of your brain. By bringing your attention and intention to different areas of your body, such as the heart or gut, you can tap into their inherent intelligence. According to Chloe Macintosh, that is where true intelligence and wisdom is found. “Energy can be distributed everywhere through mindfulness. And when your energy is distributed everywhere, then you have access to information that doesn't just come from your brain centre” she concludes.

Lesson 4
The benefits of embodiment

Embodiment practices, which can be any simple activities aimed at cultivating a deeper connection between the mind and the body, can be a powerful way of reprogramming yourself by creating new neural pathways that can help you overcome limitations.

Embodiment is understanding that your being is your entire body. You communicate with your entire body. You connect with your entire body. You think with your entire body. You feel with your entire body. Just becoming aware of that, can change the way that you move through life.

Lesson 5
Engaging the senses and embracing authenticity

Focusing on mindfully engaging all your senses and being present in your body allows for a more authentic and connected experience of intelligence. By acknowledging the sensations, feelings, and physical cues, you can communicate and interact from a place of authenticity. Embracing your full sensory range and being grounded in your bodies allows for a genuine connection—with yourself, as well as with others.
